Study Finds that Google Changes More Than 61 Percent of Title Tags
As a digital marketing agency, we write a lot of title tags for our clients. It’s important to use best practices to ensure that they are approved by Google and to drive traffic to websites. Page title tags can be found in the browser title bar, as well as in the search engine results pages (SERP).
A recent study on Zyppy.com found that Google rewrites page titles more than 60 percent of the time in an apparent effort to show searchers the best title tags to provide context for what the web page contains.
Page titles have a large impact on click-through rates because they provide important context to search engines. The study analyzed more than 80,000 title tags from 2,370 sites and found that Google rewrote 61.6 percent of the title tags at least partially.
